Challenge:

Window fabricators asked for a more thermally efficient alternative to metal reinforcement for sash profiles.

Solution:

Chelsea Building Products formulated a proprietary, scientifically engineered PVC composite, known as C Core®, to reinforce vinyl window and door profiles that addressed the challenges with metal. PVC’s thermal properties are superior to both aluminum and steel, and provides further support to tilt latches, making the sash corner stronger. The extruded profile virtually fills the cavity, significantly reducing the occurrence of convection within the cavity air space. As an added benefit, C Core® can be fabricated on the same equipment as PVC profiles and can be recycled at the end of its life.
