Chelsea Building Products Promotes Michael Gombos to Senior Plant Engineer, Stephen McClean to Senior Plant Manager, and Brandon Walkowski to Director of Human Resources
OAKMONT, PA (November 30, 2023) – Chelsea Building Products is pleased to announce the promotion of three, long-term employees: Michael Gombos, Stephen McClean, and Brandon Walkowski.
Michael Gombos started at Chelsea Building Products in 2012 and has held a variety of positions within the organization including Maintenance Supervisor, Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, and most recently, Plant Engineer. Throughout Gombos’ time at Chelsea Building Products, he conducted on-the-floor troubleshooting throughout the plant regarding technical processes and equipment.
Between 2018-2019, Gombos worked with Mark Ammer, Vice President of Chelsea Building Products South, to start up the Greenville, Texas plant. This involved renovations, locating equipment, finding local contractors and partnering with them to install equipment – both electrical and mechanical – as well as upgrading the water system.
In his new role, Gombos will be the technical lead for Chelsea Building Products as a whole – including all locations.
Stephen McClean started at Chelsea Building Products in 2008 and held a variety of positions within the organization. Initially, McClean was first hired as a CNC Programmer. From there, he moved to Tool and Development Group Leader, to Supervisor, then most recently, Tooling Manager. He started in his new role, Senior Plant Manager at Oakmont, the week of November 27, 2023. In this new position, McClean will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day production operation in Oakmont.
McClean started his career in the building products industry in 1999 through an internship and never left the building products industry. He stayed with the company he interned with until moving to Chelsea Building Products in 2008 where he’s been ever since.
When asked, McClean said, “I really have a high regard for this company. They truly care about their employees. The relationships that I have been building with the people here at Chelsea has been a great experience.”
McClean received the Journeyman Tool & Die Maker Certification from Bulter County Area Vocational Technical School.
Brandon Walkowski started at Chelsea Building Products in 2000 and has held a variety of positions within the Human Resources department. Initially hired as a Human Resources Generalist, Walkowski rose to Human Resources Manager, Senior Human Resources Manager, and now Director of Human Resources. In these roles, he oversaw all aspects of human resources including safety for the manufacturing facility, and, for a period of time, environmental regulations and compliance as well. In his new role, he will continue to oversee the human resources function at Chelsea Building Products, including aspects of safety, legal, payroll, employee relations, and benefits.
Walkowski started his career in human resources at a recruiting firm, and, coincidentally, recruited for Chelsea Building Products. Walkowski was eventually hired and began his long-term career with Chelsea Building Products.
Walkowski received his Master of Science degree in Human Resources Management from La Roche University in 2006. While attending college, he spent four summers working at Chelsea Building Products in the manufacturing plant, as well as building offices, painting, and helping with renovations. Walkowski noted that “Chelsea Building Products has always felt like a family.”
